A week that counts

There’s four times in a year when the designers and clothing brands go into a frenzy. It is that time when they can showcase their collections to the world and get potential buyers. It is Fashion Week. It lasts for a week where models walk the runway showing off the latest collections in trend for that season. Four cities have become synonymous for Fashion Week- New York, Milan, Paris and London. All the A-list celebrities ,brand ambassadors ,reporters and media attend the event to promote the designer. Tommy Hilfiger once said,” New York Fashion week comes only twice a year. Make it count.” I realise that Fashion weeks are for high end brands and haute couture (high end custom made dresses) but I feel that they could promote more usable and affordable fashion. I also feel that they could promote body positivity. We only see ultra thin models walking the ramp. Over the years the ramp has evolved with men and women walking the ramp from all races. In the years to come I hope we see models of all sizes walking the ramp with confidence. Beauty comes in all sizes.

Shop Fashion!!!

In the process of being fashionable, the first step is to shop the right kind of outfit that suits you. Without wearing the perfect dress fashion has no meaning, because it all begins with the one that you wear and finally ends up with #OOTD along with other accessories.

Unlike other fashion bloggers, I am not good at shopping the classic ones…I need someone’s opinion to decide, what is that I want and which one is better. It is always better to have opinions of others on the dress we buy because we are not the ones who are gonna see our dress….the person in the opposite must feel that it looks good on us.

Hope you all will spend some quality time in choosing the perfect dress for yourself after reading this blog, because we all now know “Fashion starts at Shopping!”

ELEGANCE IN FASHION

Is it in the way you dress, the way you look, walk and move?Or,is it the way you wear your attitude? What does elegance means in the world of fashion?

Elegance, surely is a thing of beauty. It defines the beauty of simplicity with a touch of style and neatness and more.Is is all about”the quality of being graceful and stylish in appearance and manner;the quality of being pleasingly simple and inventive. It’s sometimes best to skip the big jewelry and flashy clothes in favor to simple styles and look great forever.Elegance is refusal.

The Winter look book.

Winter and Christmas is just around the corner and it can be one of the most challenging seasons to consistently wear winter wear and look fabulous. Here is what you need to know to step out in style while being warm and comfortable. It’s an unpopular opinion- but I absolutely love winter clothing more than summer clothing. One of my favorite trend is layering. With winter clothing, one can layer as much as you want. Purposeful layering  is the perfect way to achieve warmth while putting together a chic look. Boots, scarfs, jackets, hats, turtle necks shirts and sweaters make majority of the winter wardrobe. A good knee length jacket, a neutral turtle neck shirt , jeans and ankle length boots can never go wrong. It is a classic. One can also experiment by pairing a cashmere dress and with knee length boots. A woolen scarf comes in handy during winter. I feel that with thoughtful layering one can never go wrong. It’s all about customizing the clothes to be layered to your taste. Happy December!

INDIA-The “Fashion-Forward” Country

It is well known that high-end fashion giants sometimes looked to India for inspiration, adding bits of ancient, pre-modern and modern Indian culture into their designs.Today India continues to inspire Western designers, who pay tribute to the magic of the Indian weave, that unique mix of vivid colors, silks,  and silhouettes. Both international fashion houses and Western women are mesmerized by the Indian textile production and artistry. The variety of hand-made fabrics is astonishing.I cannot help but love the tie-dye fabrics in Rajasthan and Gujarat, the beauty of gold brocades from Banaras, the durable Kanchipuram silk saree from Tamil Nadu and the intricacy of Jamavar fabric from Kashmir.Last year, Italian luxury menswear brand Ermenegildo Zegna has joint hands with its Indian retail partner Reliance Brands Limited to invest in Raghavendra Rathore Jodhpur, one of India’s leading luxury menswear brands. Zegna was quick to understand that India is preparing to become a big global economic power. And also, the wedding apparel attraction that hit India in the last one year with the mega brides- Priyanka Chopra, Isha Ambani Piramal, Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma, and the way they attracted attention from all over the world. What this means, is that bridal-wear is becoming one of the biggest champions of craft in India.

My favorite fashion influencer

Who is a fashion influencer? They may be celebrities or even normal people who have a lot of followers on social media and post mainly content related to fashion. They have the power of influencing people based on what they wear and endorse. There are a lot of fashion influencers these days but my favorite has to be Jennie Kim. She is a South-Korean artist. She undoubtedly has an amazing sense of style. Any dress she wears she carries herself with such ease. She looks very elegant and never fails to make heads turn. Jennie Kim shows you how to slay the #OOTD game. Another personal favorite would be Deepika Padukone. She is known to have a great sense of fashion every time she steps out. Be it a plain white tee or a elegant dress, she can rock anything. Jennie Kim and Deepika Padukone are two people in the fashion game I look up to.

Swifty fashion!

Fashion has always been an innovation of new things. And it is always forward looking and cyclical. Over the past few years there has been an apparent change in the fashion industry.
People are inspired by movies, television shows, and they want to imitate their role models and they eventually change their cloths, accessories, bags, shoes and many.
Clothing is now so cheep that it can be thrown away after a few wears and processing forward for new purchases with latest trends. People find it less stressful and less expensive to shop clothing just like their weekly food shopping, especially among the teenagers. Many stored are moving at such a speed that they can have fresh looks on their shelves for their customers every month or even every week.
Correspondingly the fashion industries has also a noteworthy transformation over the years in terms of types, products, and positioning of brands. And there is an increasing insistence on products.

TRENDING UGLY FASHION

Ugly fashion, especially as it has come to be interpreted in India,is hard to define it.It is, at its core, a celebration of what is normally perceived as ugly, anguished, misshapen and gender agnostic. It attacks the root of the prevalent idea of beauty created by fashion giants whose reductive approach to fashion which has left fashion being  deprived everything except glamour. It rejects the notion of the body as an emblem of human accomplishment.Instead, it pushes the boundaries of the physical and the moral.Especially in the age of Instagram and YouTube, ugly seems to be the only way to stand out among perfection. In India, “ugly fashion” also, perhaps, rose as a reaction to the over-ornamental bridal clothes that dominate Indian designer labels. In 2019, we are still peddling embroidered flowers and kitsch at international fashion events.Shapeless clothing, chunky heels and puffers are the highlights of fashion’s next invasion. Trending, along with dad sneakers, are ugly floral dresses, ugly work vests, ugly sweaters, ugly jackets and high-waisted mom jeans. It is a trend designed to agitate or even irritate the world. This wave of not good looking designs has been on the rise for a few years now, but the ugly clothing trends are no longer in the side, they have officially gone mainstream now.Once influencers and celebrities are pictured in magazines and on social media wearing a trend, it begins to go mainstream, and it’s around to a point that a catwalk trend filters through into stores, making it accessible to you and I.

Let’s swap!

The waste generated by the clothing industry is of magnum amount. No doubt in that. The chemicals and the waste produced pollute our environment. A new way of recycling clothes has been adopted recently. Clothes swap or exchange is becoming more popular. Everyday I stand in front of my wardrobe searching for something good to wear. I have so much clothes and yet I have nothing to wear. It’s something ever girl can relate to. There are certain websites that allow us to sell our old clothes which are in good condition for new clothes. You in return can get money depending on the dress we gave. There are certain companies which organize a swap program in Chennai. I’ve always wanted to go there but never had the chance. It is not only a good way to refill our wardrobe but also greatly reduces the waste produced.
