Seasonal fashion-I

The cloths we wear serves us many purposes. We wear clothes not only for our beauty, style, trend, but also for our comfort, protection, and our identity. Our comfort and style changes with different seasons. Fashion is split into four seasons with respect to the climate The summer, spring, fall and winter. We wear different styles of clothes in each season.

Summer and spring
In summer we perspire more cotton being absorber of water in absorbing the sweat. We also prefer light coloured and loose fitting clothes. We wear coolers, sunscreen and other accessories to keep ourself safe and cool.

Dreadful week shopping!!!

My sister’s engagement is happening this weekend on Sunday. So all of u must have guessed what am going to write about! Yes, it’s all about shopping for this occasion the whole week. Few months back I had bought a beautiful “long” indigo blue skirt with small gold patterns on it, trust me it looked really good. But I couldn’t find a nice top that would match on that day, so I came home with the skirt alone.

“The long skirt”

Recently a few weeks back my sister’s engagement was fixed and I decided to wear this skirt for the function. Then I had to search for a good short top that would do good with this. I went to Trendz Women shop and bought a good top hoping that it will be good along with the skirt but unfortunately it didn’t go well. I was totally upset because the occasion was nearing and I couldn’t find a perfect match. Finally last Sunday I found a top at the famous Saravana stores and was extremely happy!!!

Now currently I have given the top for alterations and am eagerly waiting to get it done. As the dress part got over, I have to focus on the accessories that will match with the costume. So I decided to wear oxidized gold metal big earrings and necklace and also blue thread bangles. Finally shopping for that was also over yesterday. Now I am all set to get ready on the D-DAY….yay!!!

Singapore Fashion Scene

what is the ultimate fashion destination? I’ve heard a lot of them say Paris, New York or Milan. But for me it is definitely Singapore. The fashion scene in Singapore is mainly street style owing to the humid climate. The clothes sold near the MRT stations are as cheap as $3 and $10 and are wearable..both in Singapore and back home in Chennai. Not only are they cheap but also extremely stylish, comfortable and of good quality. People there are always well dressed be it casual or formal wear. Every time I go to Singapore I make sure to check out the street shops and buy a lot of clothes. I probably spend more money on clothes than anything else. The street shops there are thrifty and saves you a lot of money. Clothes one would see in brand showrooms will be there in those little shops and trust me when I say they are super good. While in Singapore make sure to check out these local shops.

Trends of 2019 I love

2019 was a year that saw many fashion comebacks. I really loved some of the trends. Use of pastel shades made its mark. I absolutely love dresses in pastel shade. The subtle and soft shades in dresses looked incredible and now my wardrobe is filled with shades of pastel. Another trend I loved was the monochrome suits. It is a semi-formal suit with the same colour blazer and pants. It can be paired with a white blouse to make it a powerful suit. I really love the slip on footwear which is casual yet stylish. The trend really caught on. I see a lot of the girls in college wearing slip on footwear. A trend that I didn’t really like was biker shorts. They look bizarre in my opinion and look like tights. With 2020 around the corner I hope the fashion industry makes it big in the coming year.

Fashion creates an “Identity”

Clothing is one of the most visible forms of consumption, performs a major role in social construction and identity. Fashion provides one of the most ready means through which induvidual’s can make expressive visual statement about their identity.
We live in a society where everything is growing and changing at an unpredictable rate. The fashion industry is designed to make us feel “out of trend” just after a week. This gives rise to competition in almost every aspect of life. Fashion plays a vital role in enabling the induviduals to construct their identities especially in cities where people mingle with crowds of strangers.
In today’s fast moving world a persons dress his clothes accessories and the way he carries himself is making his identity which labels him. It is a fact that “the first impression is created by the clothes a person is wearing”
A 19th century sociologist says that with the use of fashionable items, induviduals demonstrated their membership to a connected social group and by consuming fashionable goods induviduals form an internal bond with others.

EXTREME FASHION

Alternative fashion is fashion that at one point stands out from the mainstream fashion trend. In general, alternative, or ‘alt’, fashion does not conform to widely popular style trends of the times that have widespread popularity. It may exhibit itself as a fringe style – extremely attention-grabbing and more artistic than practical  Scene fashion is youthful subculture followed by teen in western countries. It is categorized by specific colored clothing, bright hair colors.Scene fashion is known for its bright colored clothing, skinny jeans, ear gauges, sunglasses, piercings, large belt buckles, wristbands, finger less gloves, eyeliner, hair extensions, and straight, androgynous flat hair with long bangs covering the forehead and sometimes one or both eyes.Scene people often dye their hair colors like blond, pink, red, green, or bright blue. There are many types of alternative scene fashion, let us see a few examples,

JAPANESE ‘DOLL’ LOLITA FASHION: The people who follow this culture can almost be described as living dolls. This is mostly followed by girls.Japanese girls wear clothing and accessories that are opposite to the Japanese beauty standards. They were bold make up like western countries and dress extremely girly which almost makes them look like dolls.

DRAG CLOTHING: The term “drag” refers to the wearing of clothing of the opposite gender. They wear heavy make up wigs and dramatic clothing exaggerating the fashion of a particular gender.

GOTH: The goth subculture has associated tastes in music, aesthetics, and fashion. This fashion is marked by dark and analogous features. Both male and female goths can wear dark eyeliner and dark fingernail polish, most especially black.Styles are often borrowed from punk fashion. They also may wear silver jewelry.Their clothing, including black frill blouses, midi dresses or tea-length skirts, and floral lace tights.  sometimes these clothes  are worn with accessories such as bracelets, chokers and bib necklaces.

People following these alternative fashion are often criticized for their lifestyle and are victims of stereotypical comments but in reality they are just normal human beings expressing their taste and style in fashion.

EXOTIC-MORE THAN JUST THE CLOTHES

This fashion style just focuses on something bizarre and different. This clothing style is mysterious and often intriguing with rich smoky colors, shiny jewelry, ornate patterns and jungle prints. It’s sometimes very uncommon yet excitingly different.Clothes are always complemented with exotic make-up. In fashion we have heard “LESS MEANS MORE” but when we talk about the Exotic style the rule is totally different “MORE MEANS MORE”.This style is fused with animal ,bohemian, and Persian prints that gives you a fascinating exotic look.

Haute couture

Haute couture are high end fashion apparels pieces exclusively handmade. They are made especially from expensive material like silk , wool etc. These extensive pieces of clothing are quite unpleasant looking and unwearable. These are meant to represent a theme or some meaning. If you have watched runway shows you probably would have seen these weird clothes themed and quoted ‘art’. But these defies the basic necessity of clothing which should be wearable and comfortable.Let’s see few examples,

This is a piece of clothing that is termed as wedding apparel but its certain that something that a bride would never wear to her  own wedding. This is literally inappropriate to worn in a public family event.

This dress looks completely uncomfortable to wear.It may look mystical and magical but who really wants to wear something that resembles a birdcage. This may look all good on a person who lives inside a Disney movie playing a mysterious villain role.

This is something that looks like its about to fall apart any moment. But still it isn’t as worse as the others. This is the kind of clothing  certain celebrities prefer to wear during red carpet of any high scale events.

Then comes this, no one would even think about wearing this unless it’s for a  Halloween party themed aliens.

Even though these clothes aren’t specifically meant to be worn they are meant to exhibit some kind of art.It is accounted as the designer’s expression but it can also we a waste of resources and time.It just looks not so pleasing when models wear it and expect people to enjoy an aspiring fashion walk.I would suggest that instead of investing time, money and resources on clothing that  practically cannot be worn, it can be invested in legitimate clothing that people actually prefer wearing and are rather comfortable.
